Purposes are the fundamental reasons why we exist. All of
RCF’s ministries and activities derive from these essential
purposes. Like the foundation of a building, the church’s
purposes are the underlying support upon which everything else
is built. The purpose of Restoration Christian Fellowship is
basically the fleshing out of the ministry of Jesus which he
proclaimed in Luke 4:18ff: |
|
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon me because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim
freedom
for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to
release the
oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” (NIV) |
|
The essential purpose of RCF is encapsulated in the
following:
|
|
We exist to |
Advance the Kingdom of God
To be contemporary representatives of Jesus Christ and the
Kingdom of God; to be His instruments in bringing about His rule
and reign by speaking His words and doing His works. |
|
We exist to |
Provide a Church Home
To provide a church home which is characterized by an
atmosphere of warmth and acceptance; a place that encourages
people to hunger for God and be open to others; a place where
risk taking and vulnerability are encouraged; a place where you
can take off your mask and be yourself, a place where you can
take the risk of learning how to walk in the Holy Spirit; a
place
where whole-hearted devotion to Jesus, is modeled and
encouraged. |
|
We exist to |
Extend Mercy and Demonstrate God’s Love
To be a congregation through whom God can give His mercy to
the poor, the lost, the sick and hurting; to be a place
where those in need can find acceptance, love, and grace. |
|
We exist to |
Reach the Unsaved
To reach this and subsequent generations with the gospel of
Christ by being a fellowship of contemporary and relevant
believers who are unashamed of the good news; to minister
to those who are not in touch with mainstream church life but
desire to know and love God. |
|
We exist to |
Equip and Send Believers
To equip others to do the work of the ministry in the Kingdom of
God through training, equipping and discipleship; to encourage
spirit filled believers to identify, develop and use the
spiritual gifts
the Holy Spirit has deposited in their lives; to identify
members
of the fellowship who have specific callings and then, in the
timing
of the Lord, release them to go and fulfill their God given
destiny. |
