New:
An Adopt-A-Cop prayer recipient speaks on how we can pray,
listen to Officer Matt's message:
 |
|
|
|
MISSION: |
To provide genuine
Christ-like care and support to the law enforcement community
through daily specific and focused prayer. |
| |
To improve the
lines of communication between the body of Christ and its local
law enforcement community. |
| |
To help our law
enforcement agencies know that the communities they serve
appreciates them. |
| |
|
|
PURPOSE: |
Adopt-A-Cop
is a prayer ministry that covers our community’s law enforcement
officers in prayer on a daily basis. Besides the obviously high
physical risk in their profession, officers also have a risk of
becoming cynical, feeling hopeless, having relationship
problems, succumbing to alcohol abuse, and of becoming suicidal.
Their divorce and suicide rates are well above the national
average. |
| |
While a
bulletproof vest affords a level of protection for our law
enforcement, an even greater blessing and shield of protection
can be found in the power of a faithful praying church! |
| |
|
|
GOALS: |
The goal of
Adopt-A-Cop is to
assign officers to a family or individual who will pray daily
for them and send a monthly note of encouragement, support and a
thank you for their service to the community. Imagine the
powerful difference you can make in the lives of those who put
their lives on the line for us everyday! |
| |
|
|
HISTORY: |
Adopt-A-Cop
started with the St Paul Police officers in the fall of October
2001 at a fellowship of peace officers Bible Study. It's
beginnings were small with only 7 police officers being held up
in prayer. Today, five years later there are 157 officers
who are being prayed for and not only in St. Paul, but in Eagan,
Bloomington, Hastings, and Hopkins Minnesota. In addition
there is a detective in St. Louis Park, Minnesota State
Troopers, a county sheriff's deputy and a sergeant from Kansas
City, all whom are being supported in prayer by Adopt-A-Cop. |
| |
Currently there are 5 other churches
participating. They include:
Summit
Assembly of God
Payne Avenue Evangelical Free Church
Redeeming Love Church
First Covenant Church
Mount Olivet Baptist Church
|
| |
We always look
forward to adding more officers to the ministry and having more
churches join in praying for the officers! |
| |
|
PRAYER GUIDELINES: |
Pray for their
safety as they work. Ask for God to send his angels to surround
and assist them. |
| |
Pray that they
will have the integrity and wisdom of God in all their
decisions. |
| |
Pray.
for the officer and their family to
be protected from emotional trauma as they are exposed to the
negative and violent side of life. |
| |
Pray for their
families, that they will be supportive and have strong
relationships particularly the marriage relationship. |
| |
Pray for their
department to walk in integrity and to work together in a
unified and Godly manner. |
| |
Pray that our
community will be supportive of the law enforcement and gain a
better understanding of their job. |
| |
|
|
What a privilege for us as the
body of Christ to reach out to local law enforcement officers,
and protect through prayer those who protect and serve us! |
|
|

THANK_YOU NOTES: |
Thank You notes
from Police Officers |
|
|
Back up is
a critical component of police work. It’s always
comforting to hear the sounds of distant sirens of
responding squads when you need help. This ministry
offers officers spiritual back up. We are grateful to
know that people we have never met are praying for our
well being daily. One might wonder how many times
danger has been diverted at the very moment a prayer was
being delivered.
